Nutrient RDA calculator

Most over-limit intakes are not caused by a single excessive dose. They come from the same nutrient appearing in several products at once. Enter what you take and this calculator totals every nutrient across all of them, then measures the result against the Recommended Dietary Allowance and the Tolerable Upper Intake Level for 31 nutrients. 16 of them have an established upper limit.

Intake vs recommendation

The bar shows progress against the daily recommended intake for your selection. The marker shows where the tolerable upper intake level sits.

  • Vitamin D32k IU of 600 IU RDA

  • Magnesium200 mg of 320 mg RDA

Reading your targets

RDA

The daily intake sufficient to meet the requirement of nearly all healthy people in a group. It is a floor, not a ceiling.

UL

The highest daily intake likely to pose no risk of adverse effects. Where the UL is marked supplemental, it applies only to the supplement portion, not food.

Absorption ceiling

Some nutrients, notably calcium and iron, absorb less efficiently as the dose rises. Splitting doses beats taking one large one.
